Today, we’re focusing on our second value in the Five-Star Charge: Affection.

To extend true affection to others, we first need to experience and understand God’s love for us. It starts with knowing how deeply and unconditionally loved we are by Him. When we experience His affection, we’re equipped to love our families, friends, and even those we consider enemies.

Learning to Receive God’s Love

The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 5 that we are to love as Christ loved the church. Just as a husband is called to love his wife sacrificially, so Christ sees us and loves us right where we are. He sees our pain, our struggles, and our victories, and His love is always present to redeem, uplift, and strengthen us. His affection isn’t distant or conditional—it’s a love that sustains and transforms.

Ephesians 5:25-27

  • Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

The Challenge of Showing Affection

Affection in the Grace Ops journey means that:

  • We love authentically, grounded in the love we’ve received from God.

  • We serve with empathy, placing the needs of others alongside our own.

  • We seek to bless those around us, reflecting God’s grace to everyone we meet.

Call To Action

  • Take a few quiet minutes to pray, asking God to reveal His love to you in a personal way. Reflect on this: “Lord, help me understand the depth of Your affection for me so that I can love others as You love me.”
