Walking in the Freedom Christ Won for Us

Today, we’re exploring the third value in our Five-Star Charge: Liberty.

In Christ, we’ve been given a powerful freedom that isn’t based on rights, but on His sacrificial love. Galatians 5:1 reminds us, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” This liberty isn’t a license to live as we wish; rather, it’s a gift that invites us to live as Christ lived—sacrificially, courageously, and fully committed to God’s will.

Jesus, Our Model of Liberty

Christian liberty is rooted in Jesus’ life and death. Hebrews 4:15-16 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Jesus understands our struggles, having faced temptation and suffering Himself, yet He was without sin. This makes His gift of liberty all the more precious and profound—He not only won our freedom but paved the way for us to live victoriously in it.

What Liberty Means for Us

In the Grace Ops journey, liberty calls us to:

  • Live humbly in freedom, aware that it is a precious gift, not an entitlement.

  • Seek grace and mercy in times of struggle, approaching God with confidence.

  • Reflect Christ’s example, using our freedom to serve and love others as He did.

Call To Action

  • Take a few moments to read and meditate on Ephesians 1:7, which says, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Reflect on the fact that, because of Christ’s sacrifice, we stand forgiven and free from sin’s hold.

When you’ve had time to reflect, feel free to email, sharing what liberty in Christ means to you or how you’re experiencing His freedom. I’d love to hear how this gift is shaping your journey.
